Loop for Mac

#1

I very much want to like Vox & Loop but its a nightmare for me. I have a very large library and running vox on mac, i keep seeing the background uploader hang. most of the library seems to have been uploaded but now its a case of the spinning ball of death all the time. trial expires in a few days so i guess i'll wait till this is really working before looking at it again.

one more point, i've got playlists compiled over years of iTunes. without being to upload these i doubt i'll really find it super useful.

I have the same problem, my uploads sometimes I can see them on my phone and sometimes I cant

same thing for the Imac, Cant use the uploads just dont work

I will not but the upgrade til this works

and I agree it is a great player, and LOOP is a fantastic idea

I've been slowly uploading my music library, letter by letter. I've got the latest version of 2.5.2 (build 2520.17) and have noticed the following behaviours:
* Loop stops uploading after some time (about 20 mins seems the average, but it is quite random and sometimes happen after only a few minutes as well) but the only indication that this has occurred is that the number of tracks remaining to upload and the estimated time don't change. To solve this I choose QUIT on the tab icon and then SIGN IN for Loop on the player. This should not be a solution as it shouldn't be a problem, but at least it works to continue the uploads. * The Loop process crashes and the spinning beach ball of death happens when you hover over the tab icon. To solve this I go into Activity Monitor and quit Loop, after which the player logs in again and all is peachy until the next freeze/crash.

Both issues that need to be fixed. I agree with everyone that Loop is an awesome idea that is worth paying for, but at the moment it is not stable enough to justify the money. Could those of us willing to spend a large proportion of our trial time finding and reporting these errors have our trials extended? Or if they lapse while we wait for a stable version, will our uploads be lost and we'll need to start all over again?

Cheers,
Lennox

Loop keeps halting uploads for me too. I use little snitch so can see my outgoing data on the menu bar. It seems to work fine in the day for a good 4-5 hours before hanging. at which point rebooting loop fixes the issues. But for some reason when I leave it on overnight (with my computer set not to sleep, and not to sleep hard disks, just the screensaver on) it doesn't seem to manage more than an hour before going off only for me to wake up and find barely any progress has been made. I'm uploading from an external thunderbolt hard disk if that makes a difference. Shame Loop seems to fall short when you have a 5000+ lossless track, 250gb library like myself

Hi guys,

Could you please send us logs that appear when you are experiencing your issue?

Here is the instruction:

  1. Launch Finder>Applications>Utilities Folder>Console. Once it's open, click on "Clear Display".
  2. Try to reproduce the problem with VOX.
  3. When it is done - go back to Console and in the Tray Menu click on "File">Save a Copy As…

After that - send us a .log file that you have got, so we could analyze them.

vox log attached.

i’ve never wanted a piece of software to work as badly as i want vox to really work, but this behaves worse than a beta release.

Here is the log, the problem now occurs about two minutes after I start any upload to Loop. So basically I can't upload anything at all now, whereas before all I had to do was restart loop every few hours.

I'd also like someone to address the issue I mentioned in the other thread regarding artwork not appearing in Loop on my iPhone, even though the artwork appears on Mac OS X and the ALAC files have the artwork embedded into them (and it was already embedded before I started using Vox). This seems like the perfect music service for me and I would sign up straight away if it'd start working and stop behaving like beta software.

Yeah, add me to the list of very unsatisfied OSX 10.10 users. Loop keeps hanging, sometimes a kill restarts it, sometimes a kill -9 is necessary. Annnnd now that I have the console open, of course it isn't hanging. Well, I have a couple of days of uploading left...

Just a quick update. Normally I've been uploading from a Thunderbolt external drive (4Tb WD - I have a LOT of music) when the crashes have occurred. I've just tried three albums stored on my MacBook Pro SSD - two mp3, one FLAC - and had no issues. I noticed that olliemac125 also mentioned they were uploading from a Thunderbolt drive. Could this be the issue? Will try from the drive again tomorrow.

Not a big sample size to draw conclusions from, but the small size of the SSD means I don't keep music on it. I hope I don't have to transfer to the SSD to upload....

Interesting. Unfortunately I hate anything manual when it comes to music management, the beauty of this Loop thing to me was that I can set the folder containing my ALAC files on the external drive as a watched folder in Loop, and then it will notice and upload any changes to that folder as I expand my music collection. If I have to transfer to my SSD before uploading, that's gonna be a big pain and take a long time as my library is huge. Also a less elegant solution for me as I want to keep a local copy of all my music on the external drive as well as having it uploaded to loop, which means rather than just adding a folder of any new album I download to the external and then loop taking care of the rest, I'll have to add it to loop from my local drive, then copy it to my external drive. Not a huge effort once everything I have is already uploaded but like i said not very streamlined, and I'm moving from iTunes here and used to just dragging them in there and then it sorting all my folders out for me.

Loop not uploading at all.

#13

Loop suddenly started behaving again for me after I removed my music folder from the watched folders, the rebooted everything, logged into loop and re-added it. I'm still having the issue where almost all albums will not show any album art on Vox for iPhone, even though logging out of loop for mac, disconnecting my drive with the local files, then logging back into loop and loading my library back from what's been uploaded, DOES still show the artwork on there. And like I said the artwork is embedded into the files.

#14

How can i delete all and start over?

#15

Loop has been uploading fine all night, not sure if something changed on your end. Still only Loop on the Mac I'm uploading from shows all the artwork, but on my iPhone and my girlfriends MacBook only random artwork shows.

We're currently investigating this issue and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks for your patience and understanding on this matter.

OK, got the spinning beach ball this morning for some time, console log attached. But now it thinks it is only uploading a few files with less than a minute left ("Uploading 253 files, less than a minute left" at the top of the menu bar display), when earlier I had a few thousand. Needless to say, the trial period is convincing me that Loop isn't ready for prime time yet. Please let me know when this bug is squashed, because I'd really like to give Loop a fair shake.

I've attached two portions of the log; the messages between these two selections is simply a repeat of the com.coppertino.VOXCloud message.

Whoops, neglected to fill in the capcha, and of course it deleted the attached logs. Here they are.

Attached is my console log. It starts with me quitting the Loop app from it being frozen previously, waiting a few seconds, then clicking Sign In. A bunch of stuff happens, about 5-10 songs (mp3 format) upload in about 2 minutes, then it freezes again. I waited about a minute and then reset again (I know I could have waited longer, but I have seen the same behaviour and waited much longer and still the same result). No other programs were running (although you can see a log entry from Bartender, which I use).

Again, this is with uploads coming from a WD My Passport Pro 4Tb external drive connected via thunderbolt. Not a single problem yesterday loading directly from the MacBook SSD.

Just tried copying the same folder - approximately 2.3Gb and 400+ files - after copying the folder first to my MacBook SSD and then uploading (and cancelling the previous upload and disconnecting the external drive). More files uploaded, but still ended up crashing out.

Just tried copying just one folder - 20 songs - from within the folder I moved to the SSD, thinking that maybe the bulk upload is part of the problem. Nope - still crashed out with 7 songs still to go.

Logs for the above two events look the same as the attached one.

Apart from one good day, I've had no luck (and even lost about 2000+ files with the first 2.5.2 version that I can still "see" on my iPhone but aren't playable). I'm out of ideas for now and only have 4 days left on my trial. Unless my trial is extended, I can't see why I would pay for Loop in the current state. And like everyone else, I REALLY want this to work as it would benefit me greatly. I am already a Tidal HIFI and Spotify subscriber, HDTracks purchaser, and carry around my 4Tb of music, but I would dearly love to have all of my music in the cloud (lots of rare-ish and local albums that will never be on streaming services so I want to stream them myself). I've got no qualms in paying for a service that can provide as my investment in my music is beyond reasonable (according to my wife). Please help out.....

Hi,

If you get this issue sorted, can you email me and I'll consider paying for it. I've wasted enough time with this already and as the tone of this post might suggest, I'm disappointed.
