Loop for Mac

#21

Here's how I managed to get vox working. First I did this that some of the developers have posted on other threads:

  • Close Loop by selecting Quit from Status Icon - Remove Folder ~/Library/Containers/com.coppertino.VOXCloud - Run command in Terminal.app: killall cfprefsd
  • Open Loop - Login And Wait for your Library being available on iOS.

Then after logging back in again Vox was uploading without halting any more. Then I also managed to get the artwork working by re-embedding all the artwork into the files (I used 'fetch art' in the swinsian player, which I'm running a trial of, and made sure 'append album art tags to files' was ticked in prefs). Then after checking with finder that all files had art embedded, I deleted and re-uploaded albums with missing artwork then they worked. That was going to take AGES though and seeing as I'd already messed up my library by removing and re-adding the watched folder in loop, I decided to make a new Vox account (as I'm only in trial anyway). After that I selected my library as a watched folder again, it recognised the files that already had artwork before as being on the server already somehow (Vox users with matching files share files?), then uploaded the remaining albums that now had artwork. Since then everything is working fine, Vox on my Mac, iPhone and partners Mac all show every album, with art, and no missing files. Not had a problem since.

Ollie, tried your suggestion, didn't work for me. used app cleaner to get rid of everything. restarted, did a fresh install. now it seems fine, upload is running but early days yet, will report back on how it goes.

Hi Guys,

Did the "fix" above sort the issue with the track listing of the albums uploaded to Loop? Some of my albums are fine but others are not.

This is the most obvious issue with it and what is stopping me from subscribing.

Well, I decided to just start fresh. My 14 day trial expired and I was never contacted about having it extended so I decided to leave all the frustrations behind me and start again with a new account. So far 4000+ files have uploaded without a problem from my external drive connected via thunderbolt. Maybe there was some issues with my account being corrupted? Maybe updates on the Vox side? Whatever the reason, it is looking better that it was. iPhone looks updated and correct too.

Okay, you know what Loop isn't good at (yet)? Recovering when things go a little haywire. I'm now well into a successful few days of uploading and am much happier with my new account. But a few things I've noticed during uploading:
* When the connection to my external hard drive gets lost temporarily (sometimes the connection is bumped, sometimes there seems to be an internal glitch in my MacBook), Loop can't handle it. * When the internet connection goes off (even if only briefly), Loop can't handle it.

What I've seen when Loop can't handle something is that it can't seem to recover the uploading process. If I am uploading 1000 files and the hard drive or internet connection gets interrupted with 200 files to go, Loop skips the remaining 200 files even though it knows they haven't been uploaded as the folders are still greyed out (in preparation for the upload). I've tried restarting Loop, but it never seems to restart those downloads unless I re-drag them in (which can be frustrating when it is across multiple files). I know there is the whole "delete ~Library/...." thingo but that is not a valid solution for a commercial product.

Loop also has problems with the file that was being uploaded when the connection was lost. I can understand this and it says that "## file(s) failed to upload" but the options for fixing this don't work - retry doesn't do anything and neither does delete; the same message is still given. It also doesn't say which file(s) it is referring to so I need to find them myself in the Loop library, delete them, and then drag them in again to solve this. Again, not a valid solution for a commercial product.

Finally, and linked with my first point, is that Loop can't recognise when the same file is being uploaded and duplicates the track. I found this out when a break in the connection happened while I was uploading multiple folders within an artist. I thought I could just re-drag the artist in again and the missing folders would be uploaded, but Loop decided to do the whole lot again which meant some albums had duplicate tracks. So I deleted the whole artist and started again. Grrrr.......

A bunch of us has said this before - we WANT this to work and are willing to pay for it. But a 14 day trial filled with all of these frustrations followed by a premium charge for a product that is most definitely still in beta? When we are the ones doing your trouble-shooting? Chasing away your early adopters without some form of compensation in terms of an extended trial is pretty disheartening. I know we aren't Taylor Swift, but even Apple found a semblance of a heart in there somewhere....

Okay, I take back some of what I said because now Loop has found the music that it didn't find after the interruption and is downloading tracks twice (because I dragged them back in).

EDIT: Actually, I have no idea what is happening..... I removed the albums that had double tracks (one set downloaded, the second set not) and also the albums that hadn't yet started downloading. I then dragged them all back in and almost instantly, all of them appeared. So perhaps it was syncing all along? Based on outward appearances, it didn't seem like it was.... Loop has also restarted itself a few times and all seems to be good again. A tad confusing.....

The Mac app is stuck on "Uploading your music..." This message is blinking, showing no speed or time like it was. Oh yes I just paid for on year :(

We are working on a fix for this problem as we speak, and we hope for your patience and understanding on this matter.

Sorry guys but i've had it. tried again & it gives up the ghost at some point. I get the sense Loop was never tested with really large libraries.

Some other weirdness:
- compilation albums seem to get copied into individual tracks, cant see them as a complete album - some tracks are loaded multiple times.

meanwhile i've signed up with amazon storage to back up my library and that has loaded everything fine but other than backup it does nothing else. Please go fix your issues, I will wait a couple of months before considering again.

Ssingh, are you sure you have uploaded only one copy of track? So it cannot be duplicated because of several same tracks?
