Folder view and listing

#1

I organize all artists into artist folders per artist. All an artists songs of their career in one folder, I drag that into iTunes app data area but on fox for iOS I get sometimes as many tiny album subcategories as there are songs.
Thus the need to have a view by am data folder instead of just artist name or album.

Vox for iOS not fox... Autocorrect error

#3

Hey Evan,

thanks for pointing! Yes, for now we have only Artist and Album view. We have in our To Do List also Tracks view, but, unfortunately, there is no ETA for this.

Stay tuned!

#4

Isn't that a pretty easy addition? And by track view, it would list the folders the tracks are in too, as tracks are arranged in folders.

#5

We want to do our best and we trying to create only a very good feature, that's why it takes some time :)

Thanks for your feedback, and
have a nice day!

Queue still puts in reverse order after update.
Folder view please add as artist view and album view break up collection into too many nonsensical names like "unknown album " "unknown artist" as well as several artist names and albums for same artist sometimes just bcause of spelling errors

#7

Hey Evan,
what do you mean by "Queue still puts in reverse order"?

Now you see "Unknow Artist" because this name specified at Album's tag.
You can edit this Album with any tag editor (Media Rage, Kid3, etc.), and it'll be shown under Albums view with "Name".

Feel free to ask any additional question you have!

add a bunch of stuff to the queue. the first item added shows up at the
BOTTOM and the last item shows up at the TOP.

that is reverse order. the first item we choose is always the one we
want to play first.

i already submitted that and someone replied that they would fix it in a
future update. this update said it fixed something about the queue

many users want to browse music by the data folder it is put in:
arrange my music into data folders by artists' name, where the artist
actual name can vary, IE 'tom Cochrane' and 'tom Cochrane and red rider'
and 'tom Cochrane with slash' now show up in different areas and i have
to click thru 3 different areas to add them all to my queue...

not useful to browse by ID3 tags. it is also not practical to edit
10,000 id3 tags...

Hi,
Here is how Queue works:
When you chose "Add" to Queue" - it'll be shows at the bottom of Queue.
When you choose "Play Next" - it'll be at the top of Queue.

So, how exactly you add music to the Queue?

#10

ahh: i never even saw 'add to queue', only available by swiping part
way, then tapping 'more', then add to queue. thats a 3 step process for
every song i add (for a 4 hour drive with 40 songs thats tedious!)

i saw 'play next' existing on a left swipe menu as default and assumed
that meant add to queue. so was swiping all the way once to choose that,
a one step process thats quick, but as you say, adds to top.

id suggest and really hope dearly that we can at least have the settings
option to have 'add to queue' be put as left swipe default and 'play
next' as another one you see beside 'more' you can swipe part way and
tap on, or just buried on the 'more' menu since i never use 'play next'.

"Play Next" - is what you want to hear next, that's why it's under swipe menu, that's why it needs fast access. "Add to Queue" - is what you want to hear later, after all current Queue is finished, that's why it's under "More" menu and needs a 3 step.

In your case, maybe, it'll be better to create your own Collection?

Anyway, thank you for suggestion, we'll consider it.

#12

That makes no sense dissent it not? Play next is the equivalent of the very first song you want to play. But then if you have 40 songs you want to choose for a playlist and it's different every day we don't want that long drawn out menu to add each song. Also When I tap on an individual song I don't want the entire song list in that folder automatically added to the Q like your app does and like Spotify does. It's actually quite annoying as I then have to go clear the entire Q if I tap on a single song.

Basically, if I tap on a single song that one single song could start playing right away and added to q, like it does, but without adding anything else (The rest of the songs in whatever folder I happen to be in ) to the play Q, also without clearing the current play q like it does by accident if I single tap! which is also very frustrating. this would replace your play next thing. And then after the first song every subsequent song you also want to just swipe wants to add it to the Q

#13

the addition of a folder view so we can browse our music by data folder, is essential and I hope you can add that into your settings choices, it's really a simple fix isn't it?

Just got the new update of your app. Switching the top menu item to be "add to queue' I guarantee it would benefit the majority of users!

I thought I'd explain why again. The most common thing to do with the music player is queue up a bunch of music to listen to. That means wanting to do one swipe to keep adding songs to the Q. Right now that command is buried several taps into the menu. Played next is the first item that happens with a quick swipe, which is only intended to add one single song to an existing playlist at the beginning.

Keep up the excellent player app!

Discussion was added to Old Pending queue

good afternoon programmers of my favorite media player!

i would like to kindly propose to put the 'add to queue' command in a
song/right swipe menu (there is no right swipe now at all only left:
just put 'add to queue' in a right swipe menu).

theres no real need for me to go further, but mabe i venture to explain
why 'add to queue' is so essential for many of us:

the first thing many of us are doing when we use any media player for a
long listening session is... to queue up a whole bunch of tracks to
play. to have a 3 step process to add, say 30 songs to the queue for my
truck driving job for the afternoon is terribly tedious.

and, its a different playlist-queue we choose every time according to
how we're feeling that day (a 'collection' wont do as its static)

with 'play next' as top level default it sounds like you are wanting to
be able to quickly 'play next' one track only, perhaps when its an
emergency and you want to change your mind about the play queue really
quick before the next song in the queue comes on... (useful on a rare
occasion for me anyway) but, that would be well after, in the app usage,
that you had had to to sit there tediously 3-stepping the play queue to
queue up tracks (only painless if one doesent really use a queue, except
for mabe 2 or 3 songs or something).

hmm... what you say about 'add to queue' command below is odd to me like
a logical hall of mirrors: 'add to queue' is not mainly for adding to
queue later, after all current queue is finished its main function is
to make that original queue, its for making the queue in the first place.

Hey Evan,
Thanks for You suggestion. We decided "Play Next" option would be more commonly used for most users, but we might reconsider this functionality and make some changes in future.
Anyway, thank you for feedback, You are helping us to make VOX better.
Have a nice day/night!

#17

its ok to decide 'play next' should in the current left swipe menu, but
can you please consider to add a 'add to queue' in the right swipe
(without interfering with the other command at all).

how about it?

#18

Yes, of course!
We will definitely consider that. Thank You, Evan for Your kind suggestion.
Have a nice day/night!

Can we please add add to queue in the right swipe menu? This is really killing my ability to use your otherwise excellent internal player, or are you going to do like most developers and ignore such similar requests forever?

Just downloaded your update, looks like you put many many hours of work at, my simple menu request is like five minutes or less of time

I kindly put in the request once again to add add to queue to a right swipe menu, there's nothing in the right swipe only left swipe right now (defaults to play next not add. Queue). It would make it at least 3x faster to make a playlist before I start driving for the day, instead of three taps every song?

Thanks for your time
