Vox stopped playing tracks after latest update

#1

Hello. I just downloaded the newest update today (14SEP15) when I opened up Vox. My system is a late 2013 MacBook Pro running OS X 10.11 (El Capitan beta). The Vox player worked just fine before the update, but is no longer playing FLAC files, nor mp3 downloaded at 320 kbps. The time cursor moves as though the track is playing, but no sound is being played. I also attempted playing the same tracks utilizing VLC media player and it played just fine, so this reinforces my belief that it is not a hardware or MacBook software issue. The only other hardware involved is a Dragonfly DAC plugged in via USB feeding a set of Grado SR325s. Thank you.

Hi Scott,

That's weird actually, could you please send us logs that appear when you are experiencing your issue? Here is the instruction:

  1. Launch Finder>Applications>Utilities Folder>Console. Once it's open, click on "Clear Display".
  2. Try to reproduce the problem with VOX.
  3. When it is done - go back to Console and in the Tray Menu click on "File">Save a Copy As…

After that - send us a .log file that you have got, so we could analyze them.

Sir or Ma’am,

Attached is the .log file as you requested. I apologize...for some reason I
currently am unable to send email from my Apple (@me.com) email account; I
can only receive. I attribute this to some error stemming from my recent
update to the El Capitan beta, but I assure you Vox was working just
perfectly until I just updated it to Vox 2.6.

Very Respectfully,

Scott M.England

I will inform you that I am by no means a computer expert, but after
scanning the .log file and seeing this line (9/14/15 4:14:28.177 PM
VOX[615] Could
not attach source to mixer: ), I attempted listening to the same FLAC files
without the Audioquest Dragonfly DAC/headphone plugged in, and also with
just my Grados without the DAC. Everything worked just fine then, so I
believe it must have something to do with your software and the DAC. I
don't know if this is just the Dragonfly or all DACs (sorry, my other DAC
is a couple thousand miles away in the US), but I hope this helps to solve
the problem.

Very Respectfully,

Scott M. England

Hi Scott,

Also could you make sure that you've selected your DAC as a system output in VOX?

Please let us know.

Scott, how are you? Does the problem still there?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.
