Vox 2.8.2 takes a lot of CPU and the itunes preferences in "sources" are unusable

#1

Just after starting Vox Player it takes up to 300% CPU, reducing it after a while to 100%. Loading iTunes does not work – no read or write activity just high cpu values.
In preferences>sources itunes is grayed out and not available

Hallo,

Thank You for this report.

What You describe suggests that Vox is in process of scanning or parsing Your iTunes library - this is indicated by iTunes buttons in Prefs greyed out.

It's probable however that Vox has stuck parsing Your library or that it's very large and requires lot of time to parse, hence, high CPU usage.

Is Your library very large?

Please try to let it go for 5-10 minutes like this, will it finish scanning iTunes library?

Back again. Yes my library is very large (nearly 24.000 songs). Library has about 230 GB.
Though I disabled automatic scanning at starting box and sync manually.
But it is still annoying to wait so long.

Hello,
230GB in iTunes it's a lot of music. You can disable this option in VOX settings (screenshot attached) and manually sync with iTunes library from time to time, depending on how often are You adding songs to it. (there is a button with the same name)
In this case, VOX will not be scanning it every time at startup.

Thank you for you prompt answer.

My experience is "Manually sync" is not as stable (frozen mac, 85% of RAM used with 0% processor power adressed to VOX, and so on) as reload the whole bunch. Then VOX takes all 4 cores on our macbookpro and after a few minutes all work is done.

Thanks again for your prompt reaction - Vox plays great sound

Kind regards

Michael
