Three big problems with Vox for Mac

#1

Hi,

First let me say I am loving using Vox. It sounds fab. I have it running on my iPhone, Macbook and MacMini running up-to-date software.

But I have three big issues. First the installer on my iMac running Yosemite 10.10.5 opens with the splash screen and then does nothing before a Vox window opens up. It will then operate and allow me to set Preferences etc.

Second, if I try to sign into Loop (I already have a trial account set up) then it opens the Vox web page and shows I'm signed in but in the Vox control panel and in my menu bar it says I'm not. Multiple attempts to fix this using the script you posted in discussions and reinstalling the software has so far failed to fix the problem.

But having got my iTunes library on the iMac loaded I began to enjoy my hi-res audio files...

Whilst doing that and preparing something for work I needed to save my Apple System report using 'About This Mac' in the Apple menu. It saved the file by default as a .sfx document. This appears to have screwed up Vox which now refuses to play and the icon on the exported file has a Vox logo on it. Research shows that Apple System Profiler uses .sfx files as do some audio files - including it seems Vox!

Please see the attached screenshots. Is there a fix for any or all of these problems? It all works fine on my MacMini and Macbook running El Capitan but I haven't tried the System Profiler on either yet!

Thanks,

RIch

You could hit command-i and choose to open the file with a different app (probably system profiler) and then choose "always open with this app." That will disassociate the file extension from Vox. I don't know if this will help your problems with Vox but it will fix the file association problem.

Hi,

Thanks for the email.

The problem is I need to export the info given by System Profiler and by default it exports as a .sfx file. I can’t find a way to change that. Personally I’d prefer it to be a text file for a whole host of reasons quite apart from the problems it causes with Vox.

Still loving Vox though :)

Thanks,

Rich

Right. I understand it exports it as an .sfx file. If you follow the procedure I laid out, then .sfx files will no longer be opened by Vox, but by the System Profiler. This is what you want.

Hey Richard,
Sorry for kept You waiting...
I'll try to answer all here.
1) .spx can be audio and text format same time. Thats why VOX tries to open it. You can disassociate the file extension from VOX as kind man advised You :)
2) Looks like You are opening VOX app without internet connection. It's a welcome screen that appears when You first time start the app, with all nice girl animations and stuff ))) It should not appear again.
If You have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
