The whole appears to be greater than the sum of it's parts. In a bad way

Something doesn't add up about the Vox App for iPhone.

Total storage used shows as 3GB, broken down to 2.9GB Docs and Data, presumably rounded up to 3GB.
The iCloud backup settings shows the App size as 5.1MB, and the downloaded (cached) files I have stored locally are only 1.06GB.

Where is the extra circa 1.9GB coming from?

Any help, or direction greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Ricky

Ricky,
If these extra space is attributed to VOX, that could be cached network tracks - the ones You listen as streams. You can check this by clearing VOX's cache - Settings -> Clear Cache.

Please let me know does it help or not.

Perfect, immediately cleared up and now shows as 1.2GB total local storage, which adds up much more nicely than before.

I was concerned that selecting that option would delete the "downloaded" albums.

Will streamed music always be stored as cache files, and need purging regularly?

Ricky, thanks for reply.

Yes, network sources will be cached unless stored locally, to speed up the link and to reduce the load on servers, but in future updates I think we will add some options to control the cache size and/or duration. The exclusion is SoundCloud - these items would not be cashed in any way, since SC policy prohibits this.

Hope this helps, feel free to contact me upon any concern.

And, downloaded items are not cache, cache is only used on items You are listening directly from internet.
