Player is working no audio though

#1

my vox player is by all accounts working, i open a playlist and it appears to be playing the music i selected, however there is no audio. this started after the last update I've tried deleting the app and redownloading it none of it has worked so far. any suggestions? i have a pretty good sized collection of flacs that only play on this so any help would be great.

Kyle,

As usually, which version You are using?

Do You have "Fade on Play/Pause" option enabled (in Preferences->General tab)?

First, please try resetting preferences to default ones in "Audio" tab.
Second, make sure You selected correct audio output device and the volume is not minimum.

#3

Download new version (2.3.1) to see it problem is gone. Please report back Your results!

#4

This happens to me, too, with 2.3.1 (and the last couple of versions) on Yosemite. As far as I can tell it's only happening to me with FLAC files that don't have an associated .cue file. ie, if you try adding a folder of files it appears as if it's playing them back but there's no sound.

#5

^ Just tried restoring default settings under the audio tab and it's fixed the problem. Re-enabling gapless playback makes the problem return, so I think it's an issue with gapless playback.

#6

How do You "enable gapless playback" in 2.3.1? Did You mean "enable Gap/Overlap setting"?

#7

^ Yes, "enable Gap/Overlap" under the Advanced Audio settings. Curiously, in the limited tests I've done I actually need to hit the "Restore Default Settings" button every time I want to play a file like this, ie the "fix" only lasts for the current playlist that's created. If I try to play a file from a different folder there's no sound again. The sound only returns if I hit "Restore Default Settings" again.

#8

Is Your "Gap/Overlap" in Gap or Overlap setting?

#9

Is Your "Gap/Overlap" in Gap or Overlap setting?
And, also, is "Fade on Play/Pause" enabled?

#10

^ Set to Gapless. And yes, "Fade on Play/Pause" is enabled.

RandomDude, please, could You try this beta testing version and tell if the problem remains:

Hi, I can report a similar issue that's been cropping up since 2.2.10 of the Mac App Store version, and still exists in the current 2.3.1 standalone.

Basically - it happens for me when I am playing a wav file, and queue another wav to play mid way through playback of the initial track. The 2nd track loads, but then there's no sound while playing. Then all other tracks will be silent also. A restart fixes it.

It seemed to be more of a consistent issue with 2.2.10 but still happens at times with current version. Not a perfectly reproducible issue unfortunately.

They were 48,000hz files. I seemed to have fixed the issue by enabling 'Synchronize Sample Rate with player'.

#13

Yes, I'm happy to try the beta version. But disabling "Fade on Play/Pause" seems to have fixed the issue on 2.3.1.

#14

mulligan, can You please check this version for me: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4070512/VOX23b.zip

#15

Tested the beta today and the problem remains if "Fade on Play/Pause" is enabled. Gapless playback is enabled and works fine, but as soon as "Fade on Play/Pause" is enabled the sound stops. Disabling it makes everything work again.

#16

I'm experiencing the same issues, been download and reset, tried the beta copy (crash after install) all mute or no sound at all. Tried all above steps, reset all settings, disabled the " fade on...." option all doesn't resolved my problem.

#17

Jimmy Soo,
Beta version could crash because it's not for production, but it's strange You could not get sound from VOX.

Are You setting correct audio output device?

#18

Yes, because my iTune is working fine. Sound not mute. Vox seems playing the MP3 but just no sound output.

#19

i'm only have one default output (internal speaker) at the moment.

Which version?
