Hi!
I have been a user of VOX for many many years. I really, really really LOVE this music app...
Unfortunately today my enjoyment of it is beginning to change...
One of my favorite things about VOX previously was how powerful and simple of a music player it was. I would just double click a music MP3 or FLAC and "Ta da" I'm getting beautiful, hi-fi playback. Complete with the ability to tweak the EQ, volume and other basic settings.
Previously, upon double clicking a music file from my music folder, the VOX player interface that came up was practical and simple. Just buttons for play, previous, next, EQ and volume.
I LOVE this simplicity.
I VERY MUCH enjoy it.
However, in my view, this simplicity seems to be fading and thus motivating me to lose interest in this otherwise incredibly wonderful app.
Today, I tried to use the newer version of VOX (2.5.2) and upon double clicking a simple music file (like I've done many of times before) the only thing I see on the interface is icons of PLAYLIST, LOOP, QUEUE, RADIO & SOUNDCLOUD.
At this point, I'm thinking...
"Wtf, happened with VOX?.... Where is the play button, wheres the previous/next button... wheres the link for EQ..??."
"Am I missing something here?"
My thoughts continue...
"Dude.... I don't care about any playlist, nor do I presently care about LOOP or Playlist or Soundcloud plugins...."
"All I'm trying to do is play a ONE SINGLE MP3 file. Like I've done many many times before with VOX."
"Is it really too much to ask for a simple player interface and keep the extra functions like LOOP and etc. available with other menu elements"
As I try to continue using this app to play one of my favorite music tracks, I feel a growing sense of disappointed emotion, I feel myself resisting this new change and interface. I just cannot understand how anyone would prefer this... Isn't the whole point of VOX to be a music PLAYER first and foremost, and not a playlist maker/radio?
In other words... It feels like I am forced to navigate past all this unnecessary, unneeded elements of VOX, just to play ONE SINGLE music file.
Why?
One of the reasons I used VOX in the first place is because at the time I felt iTunes was waaaaaaay too complicated with all its playlist makers and technological baggage. I was thinking I'm NOT looking for a playlist maker. I don't even use playlists, despite being around music all day everyday (heh ironically I work in the music industry). There are seemingly billions of playlist makers on the net these days anyway.
Before it was just: ** Double click file, press play. Adjust EQ as needed. Shuffle, repeat. Done. **
This simplicity was my favorite thing about VOX. But where has this gone?
Remember in the Facebook movie (The Social Network), when Eduardo wants to add advertisements and Mark Zuckerberg & Sean Parker are like... "No way man, right now Facebook is cool and clean... Ads would be like throwing the greatest party and ending it at 11PM. Facebook is not MySpace"
That's EXACTLY how I am feeling about VOX right now. It feels like you guys are slowly changing the very thing that makes VOX special (to me) and sets it apart from any other music app on the net.
Truly incredible, wonderful app (Before I was tempted to call it the VLC of music).... but it seems to be getting complex in a way that makes the whole reason for why I love and use VOX obsolete.
Am I the only one who feels this way?
