Not Playing the Next Track Automatically

iPhone 12 Pro Max
IOS 17.5.1
App is up to date? According to the App Store.
I only listen to locally stored FLAC files.

Since the beginning my app has refused to play the next song unless I unlock my phone and go directly into the app. It will then proceed to play. As I type this, I sit in silence because the last song concluded, and the app refuses to play the next.

This has been the case with every version of the app I have had, and every version of IOS I have used.

Is there some really basic setting I can’t find that is causing this?

Please help.

I’m on iOS 17.5.1 but don’t have this problem (iPhone 14 Pro).

I was hoping it might be related to this thread, but that’s about macOS VOX.

I dug around in the iOS VOX.app settings but didn’t find anything. Also tried turning off Settings > General > Background App Refresh and Settings > VOX > Background App Refresh, but it still worked with those off.

I’m new here, is the developer active in this forum? I would hope that it could be fixed in a future update if others are having the same issue. I’m about at the point where I need to look for alternatives to VOX. An audio player that won’t play more than a single song at a time is shockingly annoying. I have replaced and updated everything I can, stumped by this.

Sadly, not really. VOX is/was based in Ukraine. Before the war started, they were more active on here but less so since then.

Do you have another phone to test this on? I’ve been using VOX on iOS for years and never had this issue.

I don’t believe this is how it should work but maybe the Keep Screen Awake option would help?
