No sound when playing to external Sonos speaker

Playing music from Vox (v3.3.17 Build 3398.2) on MacOS to my Sonos One speaker is failing. I can see my Sonos speaker in the Vox UI when browsing outputs but when I select the speaker no sound ever comes out. It works from other apps on my Mac as well as from Vox on my iPhone. But from Vox on my Mac (Catalina 10.15.3) it simply doesn’t have any output.

I have tried pressing play/pause on my speaker, as well as in the Vox app. I have restarted both my machine and the Sonos One speaker.

I see the following errors in my Console.app :

Another piece of debugging info to share:

When I select the external Sonos One speaker as my default output on my Mac using System Preferences > Sound, then in Vox on my Mac, I select the “Same as System” output, it plays successfully through my speaker. When I try to switch back to the speaker itself (which is named “Office”) it again does not work.

I’ve been chatting with support about this issue as well with no luck. Wondering if anyone else has experienced the same issue and/or has solved it?

Sonos speaker shows up in Vox but when selecting it, no output is played on the speaker.

Things I have tried:

  • restarted machine
  • restarted Sonos
  • rebooted network
  • complete clean reinstall of Vox
  • reset Sonos speaker completely
  • stream music from Sonos MacOS app to speaker (works)
  • select speaker as default output from MacOS System prefs (works)
  • stream music from Vox ios app (works)

Seems like no matter what I do, this issue persists from Vox on MacOS. I can select my other Sonos speaker and it works fine.

The Sonos playback has never really worked properly. Playback stops once then screen locks or you navigate away from the VOX app. Very strange.
