FLAC playback quality

#1

Hi!

I’ve noticed that in latest VOX versions FLAC (16/24 bits, at any sampling frecuency) playback is kind of broken.
High pitched treble, low bass, kind of echo effect… EQ is disabled.
Is anyone else affected by this issue?

Hi!

Please check if no AUs are involved? What set up do you have there?

Hi, thanks for responding!

VOX’s Audio Unit chain is empty, EQ and BSB2 presets are disabled.
I’m on macOS High Sierra 10.13.6, using Edirol UA-4FX @ 24 bits / 96 kHz and iBasso IT01 earphones.

Other FLAC players (eg. Colibri) sound just right with this very same setup.

I’ll try to reproduce the issue in another Mac to make sure that it has nothing to do with my system and will report back to you.

Hi, I managed to fix my problem!

I found an old version of Hear (https://www.prosofteng.com/hear-audio-enhancer) installed in my system, and though it was disabled, Vox audio was still being “enhanced” somehow.

Completely uninstalling Hear fixed the issue for me.

Thank you, and sorry for the noise!
