FLAC artwork

#1

VOX for iPhone is nice! Interface maybe a little confusing at first. But I'm psyched that I managed to add and play back FLAC files no problem, seems pretty stable. Except where's my pretty tagged artwork? :(

These files show album covers on the Mac VOX (dock icon). So far haven't seen any that work on iOS.

Thank You for Your request!

Actually, all artworks should be in-place on iOS too..
For us to detect the problem, which way You are loading Your FLAC's into Vox?
Are artworks embedded to files or kept as separate images?

I used the Airdrop method shown here:
http://support.coppertino.com/kb/vox-for-mac/howto-upload-music-to-...

VOX picks them up immediately, works nice! Just no album art, which is all embedded to the files.

Examples. Album played on Mac, then iOS = blank.
Album after album I add, no artwork detected. :(

Sorry, one more. Library "Album" view

Thank You for photos. Could You please do a test for me?

Please delete one of albums You uploaded on device using Airdrop that does not show artwork, and then load it into Vox again, but using iTunes file sharing. Does it show artwork this time? Thank You for help.

#7

Test. My replies don't seem to be working.

#8

iTunes file sharing does not work. Can I send files to see if it can be reproduced?
(These replies are acting weird) This app would be 5star perfect if I could just get artwork working on my FLACs.

#9

-- iTunes file sharing does not work. -- - Didi You mean, artwork didn't appear using this method?

Of course You can send us files! Can You use Dropbox or other cloud to share some of these files with us?

#10

Sorry, I meant... I can't get artwork to show using this method, either.
Here are two tracks from albums I've been trying out:

Thank You, now You can safely delete items from dropbox.

Looks like these files do not have artwork embedded. Desktop Vox probably manages to find these on the hard drive or internet for You, iOS version, for some reason we are investigating, doesn't.

What You could do is Google artwork picture (.jpeg or .png), does not need to be large, 512 x 512 px maximum, download it and place it in the same folder as Your album. Assuming there is one album in one folder, You will be able to add cover for every album that is missing it.

Vox will try to pick up pic in folder as album's artwork. Of course You will have to re-upload albums to Vox via iTunes File Sharing.

Another method is embedding pic into each file manually, using software like Kid3 or similar.

"Looks like these files do not have artwork embedded." Well that would explain a lot (doh).

I use a tagger called Media Rage, it is discontinued so without updates for a number of Mac OS iterations but it still works... for most things. I was kinda suspicious whether it was properly embedding artwork to FLACs, upon re-opening the files with the program they're always blank again. Also, the artwork is never picked up by Finder.

I just figured it was working because they always showed in VOX, and maybe Mac OS just doesn't show artwork for FLAC format.

Finder does not show artwork for FLAC file icons, unfortunately.
Try alternative tagger like the one I suggested, for proof of Your current tagger reliablity.
The advantage of iTunes File Sharing method over AirDrop is that You can throw folders not just files and so You can drag/drop total albums structure as it is on Your mac, and Vox for iOS will try to find artwork pictures in folders also, if files are not tagged.
