Hi, I'm new to Vox and I like listening in Hi-res, but I'm not fanatic, just looking to plug in to what's available. I'm looking for a FLAC player (for Mac OS X Yosemite or above) that will play some of the excellent stereo 352.8k FLACs that 2L.no has available (grammy nominated for their 5.1 surround engineering). Since the files are FLAC I know VOX will play it, but can it play back that high a resolution? Would I be wasting my money to buy a 352.8l kHz FLAC on VOX? What needs to be in place.
FLAC 352.8k playback?
David,
Of course Vox supports sample rates 352800 and 384000 Hz.
I You want to make use of the whole 352K8 / 24 bit file You need to have output device (DAC) that supports this sample rate / format. Use "Sync Sample Rate" option to make DAC always perform at sample rate of track that is currently playing, to avoid re-sampling. Also. make sure that DAC has sample format of 24 bit integer in Audio MIDI Setup.
But even if Your DAC will go just a fraction of that sample rate - say, 96kHz, it is still acceptable because re-sampling is really high quality and antialiasing filtering starts beyond the heard frequency range.
Hope this helps, feel free to ask any further questions here, if any...
