Adding FLAC files to Vox only puts them in Playlist view - Completely useless

Interesting discussion of how people are or are not using Vox and Loop.

To the developers: There's a lot of nice marketing copy available, but I had a hard time understanding HOW and WHERE to upload files.

<< A bit of an edit as I use Vox more. >>

With Vox 2.5 it's easier to find Loop (second icon on the left next to playlists) and you can drag new files to import into Loop. From what I can tell the upload isn't too bad -- depending of course on your connection. As an option under Loop is iTunes, so you can connect music in iTunes to Vox/Loop.

From what I can tell the iTunes connection only really works at the Desk Vox level. I don't see music connected in Vox via iTunes. At the iPhone, I see music uploaded to Loop. It would be nice if the iTunes music is also available on the iPhone. Perhaps the developers could add an option to Copy iTunes Music to Loop (or a select option for individual albums you want copied? Otherwise, I guess I need to go into my iTunes Library and manually upload to Loop. Seems like wasted time. I prefer the higher quality FLAC files, so I'd listen to them first anyway.

The view is by album so far. Would be nice to have some options to organize music on Loop, at least by artist, then album. It can get pretty messy.

I won't mind paying a reasonable flat fee if I can upload FLACs I want to listen to and access them on any device (will there be an iPad version of Vox? I didn't look to see it's universal.) When I'm at home or at the coffee shop or a place with good wifi, carrier charges are not an issue. When away from wifi, yes they are -- although I am grandfathered in to unlimited data.

It seems to me that Vox is on to something but everything still needs work. I just hope they continue to develop and listen to their users. As it stands now I won't renew Music Match and may even drop a streaming service. In the end, I like access to all sorts of music, but that costs me at least $100 a year. I already have a great digital music collection, the problem has been access to it on different devices and remotely. If Vox can solve this for $50 a year, I'm in.

We'll see. I have 13 more days to experiment.

I am finding it rather frustrating that Loop is the only option for a library for my flac albums. I don't need the cloud option and kinda resent the fact that I am being, essentially, charged for a Library option in VOX. I get the charge is most likely for the cloud storage, etc., but I just want it for the interface, plain and simple. I don't want to have to create a bunch of individual playlists/collections for my flac albums. Right now, the only way to actually get a library is to subscribe to Loop. I don't care about the upload or data usage, that's all fine, but I don't want it, and I definitely don't want to pay $50 a year for a library. It should be a basic part of the program and payment for cloud usage should be an option. I'm using VOX for now, but looking for another option unless they offer a free library interface for my desktop.

I agree with you Joe.

Except, the upload and data usage is a huge deal for me. I have a pretty massive library of FLAC files, and I tried uploading a few of them to Loop and found it incredibly slow. This is probably due to both my internet connection (I live in a rural area) and Loop itself.

I have no use for Loop. Vox advertises itself as a FLAC oriented media player, that's why I use it. It really sucks that I can't use the FLAC library function.

So what's happening here VOX? Is a standalone library option going to be available in the future? Has it even crossed your radar? Also, perhaps you guys know quite well people want a library and that's why you're including it as a pay-only option, which is totally fine; y'all gots to make money, but let me know so I can move on, or eager wait in anticipation.
Thomas, I'll do some homework and if I find any awesome options, I'll let you know and vice versa?

Im pretty sure they won't make a library function... so if you want alternatives, you can use Audirvana Plus.
The library is not perfect, but its there, and it has great support for DAC's (Integer mode etc), where you can tweak to your hearts content.

I also tried the Amarra 14 day trial. It never wanted to open on my mac (It's a very buggy piece of software).

I must be the lone supporter of Vox Loop. So far so good. When Vox Loop first came out, I had no use for it. But when the iPhone app arrived, suddenly I had my Flac files with me. The library function is nice, but it's underdeveloped and could be so much better. I love Vox, the UI, and now I have it with me. $50 is significant, but it's not horrible. $25 more than iTunes Match (Flac being better sound quality). A heck of a lot faster uploading for me to Loop than putting files in Dropbox or other like cloud services and using a far less superior app to play them. I used Plex, set up my own server, and even that got to be a hassle. I'll give Vox a month or two, see how the development goes. I like hassle-free Flac.

You must be the only person who finds it faster. I let one album sit on it, it took over a full 24 hours to upload, and then never even showed up in the iPhone app.

It's quite annoying.

Hi,

We will try to fix these issues in future, thank you so much for reporting them.
