Audio stops working

#21

I don't think that I have a network problem per se. However, I do have a
couple of devices, my Airplay target included, which are connected to a
switch that is networked via powerline adapters to my broadband network
hub, so, perhaps that is part of the puzzle. However, there are plenty of
articles via Google and on the Apple website about Airplay device
discovery issues.

When I next test, I'll boot the Mac first, then enable the Airplay feature
in my Yamaha player. In theory, I can leave the player in network standby,
and that may be the fix. That said, I can find plenty of material about
coreaudio services needing to be restarted to discover devices, as the
discovery, by default, from what I can make out, is only done at system
boot time.

Watch this space!

Very strange... This indeed looks like network problem.
As soon as Airplay device appears in a local network, it broadcasts it's service and should be seen and available for all Airplay - supporting source devices, including macs iphones, ipads. Core Audio should pick up new device the same way it picks up external wired device once connected. At least, this is what is happening to me and many other macs in our office. There's delay attributed to this discovery process, though..

Which operating system version You have?

OSX 10.9. I was under the impression that discovery only took place at
system boot time. I'll have to check further. Once things are up and
running though everything seems OK.

Any suggestions as to what tests/checks to carry-out to see what's going
on if I get further issues please?

Btw I'm putting-off going to OSX 10.10 until I really need to .....
